Cold Formed Steel CFS Definition
It is a construction system using cold formed steel section as floor beams & wall columns.
The walls are covered by Esdco cement boards. Floors joists can be covered by ferrocement slabs from above & suspended ceiling from below. The walls can be filled with light-weight concrete to ensure high thermal insulation from heat or coldness.
Cold Formed Steel CFS Advantages
- Fast installation & erection: much faster than traditional systems, for example: 4-floor building with area about 450 m2 is built within 60 days until finish
- Economic: CFS system decreases building cost by 10%
- Fire resistance: esdco cement boards & ferrocement slabs protect the steel sections from fire effects.
- Reduce building waste: it’s only 10% by weight from the traditional system waste
- CFS system is compatible with all Egyptian codes of building & many important projects are executed with CFS system such as the digital library in engineering faculty Cairo University & kafr elshiekh court development.
Cold Formed Steel CFS How to Build?
Case 1 (Increasing an existing building):
The digital library(2 floors)
Case 2 (establishing a complete building):
Al-asmarat residential buildings (6 floors)
